ABOUT: This is an at-will, partisan, senior-level position that leads the Speaker of the House’s personal communication efforts. The Press Secretary communicates the Speaker’s position to the media, schedules interviews, responds to media requests, advises the Speaker on communication strategies, manages multiple social media accounts, and drafts all public comments and correspondence. The individual must be able to work closely with legislators and staff and coordinate with the caucus communications department. The position requires in-person work Monday- Friday, with occasional remote work as directed by the Chief of Staff or Speaker and will require work on some nights and weekends. Due to the nature of the position, a high level of confidentiality and professionalism is required.

The position will have the responsibility of coordinating regular internal and external communication for the department and assisting in the coordination of events. The position will write content for press releases, scripts, social media posts, flyers, email blasts, and more. The position will also serve on special projects as assigned by the Communications Manager and MiLEAP leadership.

ABOUT: The Assistant Director of Development will focus on significant contact with prospects whose philanthropic capacity is between $10,000 and $100,000 and more, managing a portfolio of approximately 80 major donor prospects. It is expected that the Assistant Director will average 12-15 strategic contacts per month, which will result in greater engagement and movement toward a major gift solicitation at a rate of 2 to 3 solicitations per month, with all solicitation efforts cleared and coordinated with Wharton Center and University Advancement at Michigan State University. The Assistant Director will report directly to the Director of Development at Wharton Center for Performing Arts.
