MEET OUR EMCEES FOR 2010!

 

 

Joe BorgstromJoe Borgstrom

Joe Borgstrom is the Director of the Specialized Technical Assistance and Revitalization Strategy Division for the Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA). Mr. Borgstrom’s division includes the Michigan Main Street Center and Pure Michigan Living units. The Michigan Main Street Center @ MSHDA provides intensive technical assistance to communities who seek to revitalize their downtowns. The Pure Michigan Living unit exists to as a brand extension to Travel Michigan’s Pure Michigan campaign and promotes Michigan as a quality place for people to live, work and play. As a part of his responsibilities, he directly oversees his division’s social media efforts. He also was the chair of MSHDA’s social media policy work group, helping to craft MSHDA’s first ever social media policy for its employees. 

During his career, Mr. Borgstrom has worked with over 80 communities across Michigan on a wide range of downtown, Brownfield and traditional economic development projects that have resulted in millions of dollars in new private investment and hundreds of new jobs. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Michigan-Flint and is a certified Economic Development Finance Professional.

 

Kirsten BorgstromKirsten Borgstrom

Kirsten Borgstrom is the Media Relations Manager of Travel Michigan, the official State of Michigan tourism promotion agency and a business unit of the Michigan Economic Development Corporation. She oversees all public relations activities and coordinates the social media efforts of Travel Michigan. In addition, is the executive producer of the Travel Michigan weekly radio program on WJR AM 760 and a spokesperson for the Pure Michigan campaign.

Prior to coming to Travel Michigan in October 2002, Ms. Borgstrom worked for the Greater North Michigan Avenue Association, where she was responsible for the facilitation of marketing and public relations programs on Chicago’s Magnificent Mile.

Ms. Borgstrom has spent more than a decade working with the media in several industries from Sports Marketing to Real Estate Development and Tourism.

She is a graduate of Western Michigan University, is married to Joe Borgstrom and they have two kids, Kate and Jack.
